Praise for Lisa Gardner's Lectures

I spent the evening going through Lisa Gardner's Lectures on synopsis writing. What a relief!
Not only is it not boring (my eyes tend to glaze over when reading long passages on the monitor...ok, in print too), it is clear, concise and informative. Of course the fact that it's geared for a romantic suspense author is beyond perfect. I've read a couple of other guidelines and they didn't fit (and my eyes glazed over).

Writing mainstream suspense isn't the same as more romance oriented genres, so the elements aren't the same. With mainstream suspense the villain is just as important as the hero and heroine. The story can not be told without him or her. And since my stories lean toward suspense, they are plot oriented and not character/emotion. Another factor that was different between Lisa's syno help and others.

So I completed a two-page synopsis that I still need to tweak tomorrow, but I love my beginning and am quite proud since three days ago I wanted to chuck my laptop out the window. ;) So thanks to Lisa!!! Now, I really can't wait to get her book and read it.

I'll have to check her out. Glad you didn't chuck your laptop. I can't wait to read the syno at the WAW contest.

Yeah, I'm pretty glad I didn't chuck it either. ;)
Thanks for the votw of confidence, but you may think otherwise when you read it. LOL But that would be ok because this is all about learning and becoming better.
I didn't judge in the query contest but read a few afterwards. I tried finding yours but wasn't sure which one it was. I hope you kick ass with your syno. ;)
